Tzedek tzedek tirdof. Justice, justice you shall pursue. Our Jewish values call on us to take action to protect the rights of all people. This year, our rights as LGBTQ+ Jews are at stake, so we must take action!

The stakes could not be higher for the 2024 presidential election — for LGBTQ+ people, Jews, People of Color, disabled people, anyone whose identity is marginalized — truly for all pro-democracy people living in the United States.

As we near November, candidates will continue to use LGBTQ+ rights and people as political bargaining chips in an attempt to win. We expect to see even more attacks on our rights from right-wing extremists, even though the research has made it clear: anti-LGBTQ+ hate is wildly unpopular and does not represent the electorate’s values (PRRI 2023). As people of faith, we must meet this moment with the truth: religion and LGBTQ+ equality are not incompatible. We cannot sit out this election, as the Talmud teaches that we cannot stand idly by when we see injustice. We must go to the polls and vote with clarity and morality.

As religious organizations, it can be challenging to figure out what actions are appropriate and legal to take during this election season. And with the timing of the election right on the heels of the High Holidays, this is a really busy time for our Jewish congregations. Keshet is here to make this season easier by sharing our Get Out the Vote (GOTV) toolkit, along with a four-part webinar series to mobilize your Jewish community. We invite you to join one, two, or all of our sessions to find ways to make a difference, whether a simple action at home or a neighborhood-wide event.

As queer people, we have seen how progress, once considered impossible, becomes reality. When we organize and take action to affirm our values and rights, we make powerful change. Join us in the fight to stop Project 2025, to protect rights and freedoms so that all of us understand what is at stake right now for LGBTQ+ people and the Jewish community.
