Take Jewish Action for Pride 2024!

Keshet and our partner, the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism (RAC), invite you to celebrate Pride through a weekly call to action for LGBTQ+ rights during June. Now more than ever, our Jewish values command us to steadfastly support ALL of our community and affirm all Jewish people's inherent dignity and worth.

Week Two: Point of Pride letter-writing campaign to trans folks, included with the delivery of donated gender-affirming care products.

Point of Pride’s mission is to help the most vulnerable members of our community feel seen and supported through access to life-saving health and wellness services. This pride month, we are writing letters to trans folks, reminding them they are seen, supported, and valid. Your handwritten notes will be included in Point of Pride’s donation of gender-affirming products.

  • What to write
  • Consider sharing positive experiences around your own experience, especially if you are in a space you never could have imagined when you were younger.
  • Let recipients know that they are valid and valued.
  • Speak from the heart and share what you would tell a friend or what you would want to hear yourself when you were going through a difficult time.
  • Each card can be unique, or you can write the same message on each card.
  • Keep your message vague enough that the card won’t out anyone as trans to unsupportive family or roommates.
  • Once ready to mail your notes, we recommend stacking them into a flat-rate mailer or box to send them in bulk. (Please do not enclose your individual cards in sealed envelopes.)
  • Mail your notes to:

Week three: Get Out the Vote postcarding campaign

Engage in voter outreach to remind folks that we deserve elected officials who uplift our Jewish values and protect LGBTQ+ rights. Election season is approaching, get involved by writing postcards to voters! We believe our democracy is strongest when every voice is heard, and every vote is counted.

  • Instructions for the activity:
    • In our ongoing commitment to dismantle barriers that disproportionately affect Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) in exercising their right to vote, we’ve joined forces with the Center for Common Ground’s Reclaim our Vote Campaign. Together, we’re mobilizing to reach voters in states where significant racial disparities persist in voter engagement. We firmly believe that our democracy thrives when every voice is valued, and every ballot is counted. To ensure equitable representation in decisions shaping our collective future, we invite you to participate in our nationwide postcard initiative.
    • Order our postcard kits to actively contribute to fostering a more inclusive electoral process. Each kit includes comprehensive instructions, a sample script, voter addresses, and 30 postcards. Please note that stamps for mailing your postcards are not included.
    • Learn more about the campaign and Request postcards for yourself and your friends and family here!
    • Order postcard writing kits to send postcards to voters in states with gaps in voter participation here: https://urj.tfaforms.net/1410

Week four: Florida focus: reproductive rights ARE LGBTQ+ rights. Join us to write postcards to Florida constituents urging them to protect abortion access.

Abortion access is on the ballot in Florida, Maryland, and South Dakota! As we approach the end of Pride month and the anniversary of Dobbs, we know that abortion rights ARE LGBTQ+ rights. This Pride, we invite you to help preserve reproductive freedoms on both a local and federal level. Reach out to your members of Congress and write postcards to Floridians urging them to vote Yes on 4 to support reproductive rights directly. We must work to protect access to abortion on every level by advocating for protections that make reproductive healthcare accessible and affordable.

  • Instructions for the activity:
    • Write postcards to Floridians telling them to vote Yes on 4 at the link in bio (link here).
    • Tell Congress to take necessary measures to protect reproductive freedoms at rac.org/ProtectRepro.
