This Teen Had A Gender-Neutral B’nei Mitzvah

When Esther Thorpe came out as gender neutral a year ago, identifying neither as male nor female, Miriam Taylor Thorpe was worried. Esther’s mother already had a child come out as gay and feared that Esther, 14, would have trouble finding a Jewish community that would be accepting and inclusive.

Broward County Jewish organizations work to improve LGBTQ inclusion

The Orloff Central Agency for Jewish Education of Broward County has partnered with Keshet, a national organization committed to inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer Jews, for a year-long project.

New URJ/Keshet Partnership Will Lead to More Inclusive Youth Spaces

Keshet, a national organization that works for full LGBTQ equality and inclusion in Jewish life, is partnering with the Union for Reform Judaism, bringing together its URJ Youth and Audacious Hospitality departments for a project to improve inclusivity in our Reform youth programs. It is the largest implementation yet of Keshet’s work.
